Update on the opening of the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road

The Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road is basically free of old snow. However, large amounts of fresh snow have been added in the last few days. From yesterday to today alone, it snowed half a metre.

But the fresh snow would not be the big problem. The risk of avalanches is still too high, especially on the steep South Tyrolean side. ‘It would take a few nice days with sunshine to loosen the avalanches and ensure the safety of all road users. We therefore ask for your understanding that the exact opening date of the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road can only be determined at short notice,’ explains Manfred Tschopfer, CEO of Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstraße AG.
