Opening hours, winter tyres – all facts you need to know in relation to your trip to the Timmelsjoch at this time of the year.

Therefore, the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road will be closed from 11:00 a.m. to 07:30 p.m.. When the marathon has finished, extended opening hours till 09.30 p.m.

As of today, Friday, the B186 Ötztalstraße and thus the access to the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road from the north is open again to traffic without restriction.

A winter with little snow together with warm and sunny days during spring saved the  team of four, working for the road maintenance depot of the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road AG, a great deal of work. But instead of mid-May, the mountain pass, - also known as “the most beautiful scenic road in the Tyrol” - located in the back end of the Oetz Valley, cannot be opened for travellers to the south before 11 June 2020.

Because of the forthcoming winter the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road has been closed today.

One season has just ended, another one is yet to come! Now that the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road is closed, the popular ski area Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is about to open it’s ski slopes.
